Telkomsel offers pre-order iPhone 3GS today!

tsel-iphone-main-20080725

Indonesia’s largest operator, Telkomsel, has published a dedicated pre-order page for iPhone 3GS. Starting today, the country’s users can pre-order 16GB Black, 16GB White, 32GB Black and 32GB White models.

Apple last month introduced the new iPhone 3GS, packed with improved speed and performance—up to twice as fast as iPhone 3G, a high-quality 3 megapixel autofocus camera, easy to use video recording and hands free voice control. iPhone 3GS includes the new iPhone OS 3.0 with over 100 new features such as Cut, Copy and Paste, MMS, Spotlight Search, landscape keyboard and more.

Telkomsel, the only operator for Apple’s iPhone in Indonesia,  launched iPhone 3G last March and seems their market performance here so far was not that success.

iPhone 3G price drops $100 in Indonesia

iphone3gtsel1

Hello, iPhone 3G? How are you in Indonesia? Actually, not so good. Yeah, the Apple’s device failed to create a success story here, so far.

However, here is the latest dispatch on Telkomsel’s iPhone 3G:

To celebrate Telkomsel’s 14th anniversary this month, Indonesia’s sole iPhone 3G provider is cutting Rp. 1 million (approximately $96 at this writing) off both the 8GB and 16GB models, bringing the prices down to Rp. 2,999,000 ($289) and Rp. 3,999,000 ($386) with a 12-month contract.

The timing of the promotion seem to coincide nicely with the rumored announcement of the third generation iPhone, but for those who are not aware of Apple’s supposed plans, this latest price drop may leave an unpleasant taste.

Asia-Pacific leads mobile marketing, advertising

user_japan

The Asia-Pacific region leads mobile marketing and advertising, according to a report. The ABI Research report predicts that nearly $7.7 billion (and more than $16 billion globally) spent there in 2011.

Why has mobile marketing and advertising been more widely adopted in some Asian countries than elsewhere? Particularly in the most broadband-enabled countries — Japan and South Korea — SMS text messaging, the downloading of ad-supported games and applications, and the mobile web were adopted widely and quickly by consumers. People understood how to use these services and rapidly built them into their lifestyles. Add a cultural predisposition to becoming a fan of the latest popular trends, and you have a consumer receptive to mobile marketing.
