Wall Street Journal’s mobile reader for Blackberry

My managing editor may love this stuff. World’s second most popular newspaper, Wall Street Journal, recently just launched its specific mobile reader for Blackberry devices, the WSJ.com Mobile Reader. Of course, this is not a copy cat of that magnificent yet complex NYT’s TimesReader. But as the name suggest itself, it is just a reader that could enhance your readability when reading WSJ’s content. 

Some advantages which you can from this mobile app are:

India Vodafone’s iPhone 3G price plan

After the price of the iPhone 3G itself, I bet that you also want the information on its price plan right? Yeah, thank you. Now this time you’ll get what you want via Labnol. However, just note that this is not an unofficial one, yet it comes from a local rep. shared. Sure, no warranty and zero guarantee. Feel free to read it at your own risk.

iPhone 3G price plan for customers with a postpaid connection

1. No unlimited data plan.
2. Rs 500 to Rs 1000 for monthly rent, depending on your internet requirements.
3. 50 MB of free data usage for lower or basic plan.
4. 600 MB of data usage for the upper 1000 plan.

iPhone 3G price plan for customers with a prepaid connection

1. Rs 100 for monthly rent for an iPhone’s data card without any free data usage.
2. The SMS and local/STD call charges on iPhone will more or less be the same as existing tariffs offered by Vodafone.

Ok, there you go. The unofficial Vodafone Essar’s iPhone 3G price plan. From all of these report and reaction over twitter, I don’t think that the iPhone 3G will become a hit in India. If this prediction had gone through then I wonder if Apple could reach their sales target in India.

Yeah right, but people just don’t like the price Ok.

Well, I don’t know what will happen in Singapore beyond this issue. Anyway, besides in India, it seems that Apple will also facing some problem with their price plan in Philippines.

Not a good news for Apple. Sorry Steve, we (Bloggers) can’t help you this time.

iPhone 3G price in India

This is a breaking news on iPhone 3G. Reuters just reported that Vodafone Essar, India’s third largest mobile operators has announced their iPhone 3G price.

1. Rs 31,000 rupees ($708) for 8 GB
2. Rs 36,100 rupees ($824) for the 16 GB

Note that this offering is still considered as an unofficial one since this announcement has come from its unnamed senior company official. However, based on its rival’s official website, Airtel, I think that this price is somewhat a truth rather than a buzz. You can check out below for such a proof.

Bharti Airtel’s iPhone 3G price

It is just the same as Vodafone’s offering. Airtel will sell this iPhone 3G at Rs 31000 for 8 GB and Rs 36100 for 16 GB (White & Black). Check their official website here. And don’t forget to click Expand All button on that page.

Look, my suggestion is that you better wait for HTC Dream or Nokia’s device than buying a $200 gadget at $800 in such environment that hasn’t been ready yet. Come on Asian, just show them that we’re not too stupid as a consumer, right?

Singapore SingTel’s iPhone 3G price plan

The phenomenal phone is near and SingTel has prepared. iPhone is going to be available in Singapore by August 22. It goes on sale at midnight 22nd August at the SingTel ComCentre, and 24th August from SingTel Hello stores. So it won’t be launched as of this midnight.

In order for preparation, SingTel managed to unveil their special price plan for iPhone 3G package. They offer two (2) kinds of price plan. The first is for existing SingTel price plan–and they give it for free for iThree Plus subscribers–as written in table below:

The second is new iFlexi price plan. It is customized for iPhone with free local data per month, either 1 GB, 2 GB, or 3 GB; depends on the price plan you take. Consumer may get the phone for free if taking the iFlexi Premium package.

Which plan is more suitable with your daily usage? Anyway, more information from Singtel:

The handset will be preset to the SingTel Network. Phones not connected to the SingTel network will not be supported by SingTel. It may work (for Starhub or M1) but you may not enjoy the same iPhone experience as SingTel only supports iPhone 3G devices that are connected to SingTel’s network.

It is unlocked version that will be offered. If you happen to live nearby Singapore, cross your finger to test it with your local operator (especially for Malaysian and Indonesian).

Softbank to sell Casio cellphone

Softbank, Japan’s third biggest carrier after NTT DoCoMo and KDDI, has announced today that it would sell mobile phones from Casio Computer Co. Just like this tough Boulder I guess.

For Softbank, this deal may help them to boost users subscription. Though they’ve already enjoyed a nice increasing in term of subscribers from the launch of iPhone 3G since July 10th. While Casio, on the other side, could gain benefit from this deal since they’re going to sell their WCDMA-based mobile phones to Softbank. Instead of the CDMA-based handset like they used to sell it through KDDI, Corp.

Besides for Softbank, Casio has also supplied other carriers as well such as KDDI, Corp in Japan, Verizon Wireless in USA, and LG Telecom’s in South Korea.

Note:

It’s just funny, at least for an Indonesian like me, to know a company who made the legendary G-Shock or Baby G is also a cellphone manufacturer.

Rumor on Sony Ericsson Xperia X5

Again on Sony Ericsson. Correct me if I made such a mistake again this time. Of course, most people are waiting SE for their slider adventurer, Xperia X1. Even some sources have said that this Windows Mobile powerhouse is going to hit the UK market on this October 30. Yay!

Aha, looks like we’ll smell a sort of gold-gadget again this time. Luckily, this is not a usual candy bar, clamshell or slider handset. It is a watchphone. Just call it M830 - since it has an unknown manufacturer. Actually, on May 8th, 2008, I’ve published a waterproof watchphone called EP2502 (weird isn’t?). Look, I’m not an anti-China. Believe me! But I did have some experiences with those cheap, complete yet unique Chinese gagdets. The result was wonderful. It is probably good and works well in seven to 14 days. But after that, just beware. The components will make you frustrated.

It seems that I really fall in love with something call Android right now. I’m sorry iPhone. It’s not your week anymore. Yesterday, I’ve just published a news about Android’s first gadget that has been approved by the FCC. And now, here comes some screen shots of Android SDK v.9 from MobileCrunch’s Greg Kumparak.

I should admit that these screen shots are just such a common mobile phone features. A clock interface, phone front face, screen-based keypad, wallpaper setting, media player, text-messaging interface, etc. No stuffs that most of us somehow are waiting for e.g.  that magnificent Google Street view.

What’s new from Indonesia

For this week, we posted information about MicXon. Singapore based manufacturer apparently quite popular in low-to-middle market. MicXon has made fake communicator and gaming-focused phones. Next, the youngest GSM operator, AXIS, managed to launch new tariff plan which is very amazing. They offered IDR 1 for SMS and free usage of 1 MB data per day to compliment their grown subscribers.

Moreover, BlackBerry Bold has arrived and Sharp is about to shock Indonesian market by launching their 920SH–which was very popular in Japan–in 2009. Will they repeat the success here? We will figure it out later.

The Finn giant has always catched our attention by creating new buzz every single day. For this week, we covered their action on launching Email beta client for S60 3rd edition, re-launching Nokia 3610 in fold design, creating secret passage at OpenAtYourOwnRisk.

Furthermore, they are rumored to use AMOLED display for new products, make agreement with Zeemode for Bluetooth gaming controller, and finally their latest N96 got approval from US telecommunication commission, FCC. All are good news? Not all, since J2ME bugs has reported to be a threat for Nokia S40 users. Wow, those were huge amount of coverage!

iPhone Buzz

Yet another iPhone news. Or probably we are just too curious about this Steve Jobs’s new toys. The buzz started from almost US$ 15,000 of iPhone pouch (totally ripped off!), BestBuy to follow the euforia by selling iPhone 3G starts from September 7, while Global IP Solutions created VoIP SDK for VoIP solution. Life is going to be easier with this cheap (or free) calling rate!

Next, we have information that iPhone directly sit in second place of smartphone market in the USA, behind BlackBerry, while they are predicted to sell 4.47 million units this quarter. Also, banking giant HSBC plans to ditch BlackBerry to equip their 200,000 employees with iPhone! Really good job for Apple!

Yet, there is news flown around that Infineon 3G chip, planted on iPhone 3G has caused some trouble for 3G connection realibility. We’ll search for the truth about this case since AT&T claimed that they receive little amount of complain regarding 3G connection.
