It’s Asia Blogging Network Planet

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

At this moment, we currently have sixty six blogs in fourteen main domain, and also one main blog. We have many feedbacks from all of you about how to track the latest changes globally. Now, you can do it easily. We created an aggregator: Asia Blogging Network Planet.

It will gather all recent articles globally. It is a good place to start reading the fresh articles. Anyway, it will be updated every hour. If you want to read latest entries from certain topic, feel free to subscribe to main topic RSS. You will find the RSS link addresses there (look at the orange icons). For all RSS lovers, you can grab our planet RSS and subscribe into it. Enjoy!

PS: Thank you Feedburner!

We have a new face!

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

It has been a month (almost two) since we launch Asia Blogging Network (ABN). We receive many contacts, asking for information, application to join our network. Many things happened. It is time to give some new touches to our site. Enjoy our new design!

What’s new?

Here are some new and improved features you will find in our new design.

  • Asia Blogging Network Global Update — You can find recent articles posted from all blogs in our network in front page. Currently we have 65 active blogs in 14 domains, and more domains and blogs will come. Previously, we only display ten newest articles. Now, you can browse up to 80 recent entries. You want to find older articles, just click on the “Next” link.
  • Better content management — We still use Wordpress for our main site (and also for all blogs in our network). And we do not have plan of switching to other platform. WordPress works perfectly for us. We will share a little secret. As you can see, there are other sections beside news here: Column and Press Release (and also ‘pages). We want to make them have a better information. For example, if you read an article written by our guest bloggers, you will find it easier to read other articles (by other guest bloggers). The same scenario will be used when you read press release.
  • Read, read and read — We updated our Live! page. It’s cleaner now. In the sidebar, you will see a list of blogs in our network. You can read the recent articles from a blog by clicking on its name. So simple, right?

I will stop writing now. It is not a perfect design. We will not stop developing and give new interesting features. Enjoy the new look! Ideas, comments, or suggestions? Do not hesitate to pass them.

AsiaBlogging.com started in Asia (CNET Asia Blog)

Saturday, June 16th, 2007

Budi Putra, AsiaBlogging.com CEO and founder wrote more information about Asia Blogging Network (ABN) in his CNET Asia Blog. In his article, Budi wrote about some reasons — and great points — about this network. He also explained about the reason why this new blog network started in Asia.

“Because of fast-growing blogosphere in this region. Asia is also an emerging market in Internet content especially for blogging, multimedia sharing and social networking” — Budi Putra.

AsiaBlogging.com was two weeks ago, and we are proud to be part of Asian blogosphere. Let’s bring Asia to the world!

Thank you for your letters!

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Few days after we launched AsiaBlogging.com, we got many letters from our contact form. And we never thought that we have many positive responds. So, allow me — on the behalf of all team members and bloggers — to say: thank you!

We received many application letters — and we want to inform you that we got every single email sent from our handy contact form. But you probably haven’t got any responses from us. It’s not only that we handle each email one by one, but also we found it hard to give answers. I want to share some tips when you send emails:

  • If you want to apply to be our bloggers (or guest writers), let us know about yourself in your first email. Tell about who you are, let us know about your blogs. Give us as many information about “you”.
  • Provide a valid email address and real name. We do not know all bloggers in Indonesia (or Asia). It’s better to mention your real name than putting “Me”, “Anonymous”, “Blogger from Indonesia”. If you publish articles in our blogs, your personal information will be published (at least your real name).
  • Help us to answer your inquiries. Sometime, we find it hard to give responds. We only got email like this:
    • “I want to join this network”
    • “I want to register my blog”
    • “Hi, I love blogging!”

Once again, we love receiving emails. We always wait for your feedbacks and ideas from all bloggers (and our site visitors). If you send us emails, we will reach you back — if your emails really needs answers. If you do not receive respond on the next day, be patient… take your time to browse blogs in our network. And if you haven’t heard anything from us in a week, you can contact us again.

Thank you guest bloggers!

Asia Blogging Column Widget

Yesterday, we launched this blog network officially. It would not be possible without great efforts from all bloggers, contributors and blog administrators. As an information, we have a special section here where we published articles from our guest writers. Again, thank you Wimar Witoelar (site) and Jennie S. Bev (site) for your articles!

If you are our blog readers, you can see the latest articles from our guest writers from any sites reside in our network. We’re placing a widget in our blogs (more than 60 blogs!). I know, not all blogs have this widget… but it’s about time. We also have plan of releasing this widget for public. So, if you’re WordPress users, and you use widget-friendly themes, we have something for you near the future.
