“You are what you focus on”, that’s what Joe Vitale meant in his book “The Attractor Factor”. Your focus will become reality. The problem, what are we focusing at? Is it to a negative topic, or positive. Our subconsciousness sometimes tend to focus to negative things/ideas.
If we focus to a negative thing, it will become a reality. We often did this unintentionally. It’s either our nature, or influenced by our environment. An example: You are having problems starting your own business. You reasoned that this is because most of your time are already taken by your full-time office job.
What will happen is your business will never take off, because you’re focusing on a REASON which is stopping you from moving forward.
When we’re focusing on problem, instead of the solution, what will happen is the problem will add up. Focus to the reason, and the barrier will increase. Focus to our weakness, and we’ll become weaker. That’s the power of thought.
The problem (or advantage) of our subconsciousness is that it’s not able to differentiate between negative & positive things. To it, everything is positive. If you don’t believe it, try this: I want you NOT to imagine an elephant.
What will happen? You will still think about an elephant anyway.
So we’ll need to do the reverse. Focus to the positive things instead, and it shall be. When we’re focusing on becoming rich, we will be. If we’re focusing on living healthily, we will be. When we focus on loving, we will be loved. When we focus on giving, we will be receiving. Therefore we shall commit our focus to the positives : wealth, health, happiness, and so on.
Unfortunately, there’s one more obstacle - our environment. It tend to drive us to focus negatively. Starting from news on the media, TV, radio. How many positive news are we seeing daily? You can bet that the negative ones far outweigh the positive. So we’ll need to leave those.
Some of our friends also tend to be very negative. They’re only complaining, gossiping, while doing nothing about it. We’ll need to leave these people, and find new friends which will help our quest for success. Those who are positive, productive, and support each other.
I have been pulled to these negative focus myself many times without me realizing it. When this happened, one after another will continue to pop up. After a while, it will start to affect us physically. Our body will feel weak and tired, while we’re doing nothing. Too long, and it may fell ill.
When this happened, I usually realized something is wrong, and started to focus on positive things to do. My mind soon becomes clear, and I feel energized again to start doing what I should be doing.
So come on, let’s focus positively. Befriend positive people. Read, hear, see things positively. Change the negative into positive. Read books which discusses opportunities, innovation, inspiration, and drives us to the solution. The glass is half full, and there’s so much we can do about it.
Let’s change. Right now!

I totally agree with this, Roni. You know what? I have a very strong mindset that “I am one in a million, not one of a million.”
When I was in a bad shape financially a few years ago, I had a strong mindset that “In one million people, I’m the one who will win a lottery.” Well, guess what? I did. I won USD 20,000 sweepstakes.
To this very day, I have a strong mindset on many things and oftentimes whenever I’m down, I’d say, “In one million people, I’m the one who will be such and such.” Sometimes, I use this to cheer somebody up, but he or she might not take it the way it is supposed to.
Some people said, “Well, it’s because you’re smart, Jennie, and I’m not.” There goes the “success mindset.” Once the negative focus emerges, all those positive vibrations vanish.
I’d love to see more people having the so-called “one in a million” mindset. That’s the ultimate success mindset, isn’t it?

i so agree with you. It is very easy nowadays to complain rather than to think positively. Being a critic is so mainstream. It somehow makes people feel smart to be able to point what is not right, but again, unfortunately it is so mainstream because everyone is doing it now. In tv, in newspaper, in blogs, in talkshows.. we see more negative than positive opinions and news.
Thanks for bringing up this topic, Roni.. :) Keep up the positive attitude! :)

Although I am not a fan of self-improvement books, I do agree with you we need to have a focus mind to achieve what we desire. When we got sick, down with a fever or cold, the medicine we took is only effective if the mind strongly think to get well, that we can’t afford to be sick as we have an important task to attend to.More often than not, we get better sooner and before we finish taking the course of the medicine.
The mind is very powerful when we want it to be.It’s up to us.

Yup, I have read the Attractor Factor and I believe in the power of mind. It is very hard to think positively, like you said, tv, news, people’s talk, also contribute negative thinking. Not only that things, but also culture and faith. Here I mean, about negative beleive like bad destiny, bad karma, etc.
Many people in Indonesia doing “self clearing” using traditional rituals like “ruwatan”. Just like Vitalle doing “Yagya”. In my opinion, such thing is to give us a believe that all negative aspects of us have been cleared, so that we might have positive thinking easily.

I agree with you mr. roni.
Because there are relationship between ourself and Nature. Nature will respond what we think and do. Its depend on us. If we think and doing positive, we will get positive thing. But, if we think and doing negative, we will get negative too. Maybe….its KARMA for Budhisme

I don’t quite agree. Although thinking positively helps in achieving success, it is not useful in itself, there are so many other factors that are much more important. Also, there is such thing as thinking too positively to the point where it is unrealistic.

That’s a good point. But, what do you think if we have two focuses at the same time. Is it possible or not? For example,in 2008 I want to work for UN body and I want to follow my Ph.D. What’s your comment?
